Insightful, poetic, and relatable best describe Toronto born singer-songwriter, Samantha Rays. Inspired by the connectivity of music and the comfort of an honest story, Rays’ folky yet soulful style connects with an audience through vivid imagery and thought-provoking storytelling.
Rays has performed throughout Toronto in songwriter’s rounds, bars, festivals, and most recently the iconic Horseshoe Tavern. Her raspy tone captivates the audience, while her inviting stage show has been described as “half music, half stand-up comedy”. Her storytelling has taken her to Nashville, where she’s performed in songwriter’s rounds and written alongside an eclectic group of talented musicians.
Last year, Rays released her debut single, “Hostage”. The song explores the struggles one faces when confronted with a missed opportunity and the effects that feeling of loss can have on the mind. Produced by 4-time Juno award winner and Glass Tiger founding member, Michael Hanson, the track’s soulful piano and heart-breaking vocal has brought audience members to tears. She is excited to continue performing and sharing her stories.
